And just what is a tabula rasa, you might wonder. Well, it is a Latin term meaning a “clean slate.” And that is exactly what you will receive. Here is how it works – for a mere $118 you get a blank canvas. We supply paint and brushes. We will also provide food and wine to help liberate your inner artist (come on, you know there is a little Picasso, Rembrandt or Warhol in there somewhere). Our crew, led by AOTA board member and artist Glen Ronald, will provide encouragement, insight and inspiration to help you create your own personal masterpiece. Bring your friends and help us raise funds to support the amazing work of the Carrot and Arts on the Ave. Spaces are limited, so please contact tabularasa118@gmail.com to reserve your spot

The walk begins at the Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse (9351 118 Ave) and ends at Eastwood Community League (11803 86 Street). The founder of the Montreal peace walk, Georges Konan, will join us with the symbol of peace: an aboriginal drum. This important symbol has been at the Montreal peace walk and the Paris peace walk! It will arrive in Edmonton and walk with us.

Please come and be part of this wonderful event. Meet members of the Alberta Ave community, including those from the African community who are helping to revitalize our neighbourhood and create a special legacy here in Edmonton.

Come celebrate the value of cultural diversity and learning to live better together.

About Plaza Bowl

Located in the basement of a strip mapp, not far from the 118th Avenue traffic circle on 104 Street, this 16-lane, 5-pin bowlerama has been rolling along since 1960, and not much has changed over the years. Take a step back in time with Betty, Veronica and Archie. It still relies on the tried-and-true manual scoring, so you can brush up on your math while you bowl.

Arts on the Ave and the Avenue Initiative have teamed up to create and curate Caught in the Act: the theatre series on 118 Ave. The series takes place in the developing performance matrix that extends between the Old Cycle Building and the Avenue Theatre on 118 Ave, straddling 92/93 streets.

Caught in the Act runs from April to September, and includes Shakespeare, original plays and festival productions. Featured events include the Edmonton debut of a new work that will travel to the Edinburgh Fringe later in the summer, a new comedy by award winning writer Collin Doyle, a festival of Irish Theatre, and, for the second year in a row, a Fringe BYOV over the river.

Conceived by Christy Morin of Arts on the Ave and Judy Allan of the Avenue Initiative to provide a variety of live entertainment options in a neighborhood that is invigorating its rich cultural potential. The Old Cycle Building is under long term renovations to become the cultural hub of Edmonton’s north side.
