Lantern Workshop with Dylan “Toymaker” George

Title: Lantern Workshop with Dylan “Toymaker” George
Location: The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse

Dylan “Toymaker” George is an artist in spaces, sounds, communities, photons, and transformations.  Lantern parades, festival installations, kaleidoscopes projections, recycled material jewelry, and sculpture are some of the particular ways these ideas play out in real time.

Bonus Question: “What kinds of toys do you make?”

Answer: “Everything is a toy!”

On August 23rd and 24th, The Carrot Coffeehouse will be transformed into Dylan Toymaker’s Lantern Workshop.  Youth (ages 8-17) and Adults (18+) are welcome to plaster, paint, and papier-mâché to create objects of beauty and light.

Description: Community Response to Urban Disorder (CRUD), in cooperation with Arts on the Ave Edmonton Society, invites community residents, artists, families, and anyone interested in Chalk’n up the Avenue to join the fun on Sunday, June 21, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM starting outside the Alberta Avenue Community Centre (9210-118 Avenue). This event brings community together and offers friends, families, and neighbours an enjoyable afternoon creating colourful chalk drawings on Alberta Avenue sidewalks.

This is notification for a special meeting of Arts On The Ave Edmonton Society (AOTA) for the review of a motion to amend the current bylaws to be held on June 7th, 2009, 1:00pm at the Carrot

The Motion

Janice Melnychuk (AOTA board member) moves that we add a dissolution clause into our by-laws as follows:

By-law Clause 37 : Dissolution of AOTA requires any assets remaining after paying debts and liabilities to be:

a. disbursed to eligible charitable or religious groups or purposes:or

b. transferred in trust to a municipality until such time as the assests can be transferred from a the municipality to a charitable or religious group or purpose approved by the Board.

Background

In order for the AOTA to get a license to have a casino the society is required to have as part of its by laws a clause to cover the disbursement of funds in the event of the society’s disillusion.
