Kaleido Festival 2008
Edmonton’s arts scene comes to Alberta Avenue in a festival of music, dance, theatre, film, literary and visual arts.
Kaleido! 2008 will feature a mélange of over 200 musical and performance acts, visual artists and artisans from both the professional and emerging arts. Kaleido! is a celebration of Edmonton’s arts scene. The Festival’s newest addition is a Blue Grass Pancake Breakfast featuring “Down to the Wood” Saturday morning, and an all-day family carnival. The festival is organized by Arts on the Ave Edmonton Society a non-profit, community based, grassroots initiative engaged in developing 118th Avenue as a community arts district. Since its inception in 2005, Arts on the Ave has helped bring new life to Alberta (118th) Avenue by supporting and promoting artistic expression. Arts on the Ave has successfully organized and presented extensive art showings, performances and activities in an educational, mentoring and sharing environment. The annual Kaleido! Family Arts Festival serves as a showcase for local and regional talent and celebrates the arts with family, encouraging community to become both audience and artist in this two and a half day celebration.
This year, Kaleido! will showcase the launch of Edmonton’s Cultural Capital and Avenue Initiative – sponsored CD project, “Songs From The Ave.” This project is a magical centerpiece for the 2008 Festival. The musical collaboration will involve all of the singer/songwriters from the CD project. Don’t forget to purchase your own “Songs From The Ave” CD!
