What’s Going On

Friday Night kick’s off our festival with the “No-Tie Gala” art show and sale, complete with live blues both inside and out. The evening continues with an outdoor retro movie screening, music at The Carrot, excellent theatre from Jeremy Baumung and a lantern parade. That’s the skinny, now find more details below.

“NO-TIE GALA” ART SHOW & SALE! [6 PM - 11 PM]

View works of art for sale from over 50 visual artists in a multitude of mediums and styles. The art gallery located within the Old Cycle Building opens at 6 pm with a beer, wine and cheese reception, catered by Creative Quality Catering and Bistro and live performance by Edmonton’s very own Lionel Rault. Find the perfect handmade gift or painting at the Artisan Village located on 118th Avenue, as the party spills into the street with the Friday night Blues Party featuring Dr. Blu and the Kevin Cook Band.

VINTAGE MOVIE NIGHT: Outdoor Movie Reel

Movie begins at 8:30 pm Behind 9210–118 Ave Community League
Join the 1950’s Swiss Family Robinson as they live out a tropical island adventure. Bring your lawn chair to Kaleido’s open-air cinema. Look for the Giant Inflatable Screen behind the Community League!

Experience this powerful, one-man show. HOMELESS is a funny, searing, moving journey through the lives of those society tries its best to forget… Located in the Old Cycle Building (9141–118 Ave).

AURORA LANTERN PARADE [10:00 pm]

Celebrate the first anniversary of Nina Haggerty on the Ave, along with the kick-off to Kaleido with a giant spectacle — a parade of unique lanterns complete with drummers and fire dancers. Join the happy throng with a lantern of your own, or bring a drum for yourself and your little ones.
