Julie Drew

Papermaking Workshop on Saturday

Julie Drew has always been attracted to the beauty of nature—mountains, oceans, animals, and especially flowers. Early on, art became a way for her to capture and participate in that beauty. Her passion for art led to a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, USA in 1987. When Julie was introduced to papermaking 14 years ago, she dreamed of making a paper that she could paint on. She has continued to pursue that dream and some of her paintings are on her own handmade paper. Julie uses watercolour, colour pencil and ink as her main mediums. In 1997, Julie moved with her family to Edmonton, Alberta, where they now make their home. Julie continues to use her talents as president of the Emerging Artists’ Society of Alberta as well as teaching papermaking and other art lessons. Her art work and series of paintings are exhibited around Alberta.
