Message from the Producer of Kaleido 2008
Welcome to the third Kaleido! Family Arts Festival.
My family and I have resided in this community for 14 years and it is a pleasure to welcome you and your family to our neighborhood! The transformation that is taking place on the Ave is phenomenal. We are seeing new families move in, historical housing stock restored, and an energy of community that is contagious.
Arts Alive! Festival has been renamed this year to Kaleido! Family Arts Festival – A kaleido is a bringing together of breathtaking colours and shapes only seen in the presence of light. We see the true essence of the Kaleido festival when lives come together to swing hammers, laugh, create art side by side and care for each other.
This year’s festival is unique, we are releasing “Songs From The Ave” CD. Eleven neighborhood musicians read historical books and visited the archives, listened to stories from folks that lived in the community years ago. The musicians wrote songs about this historical neighborhood; the songs are exceptional! You will want to have “Songs From The Ave” in your CD collection.
One can never say “Thank You” enough to the ongoing support of our volunteers, sponsors, funders and board members. This festival, the Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse and the many arts projects that we create would never be possible without the countless volunteer hours and energy given by this generous group of Community and Edmonton Artists!
Arts on the Ave Society is delighted to have you visit as guests, and our hope is that you stay connected and visit again soon.
Enjoy Kaleido! and come by for a coffee,
Christy Morin, Festival Producer
