Bridge Songs Progress

promotional artwork for Bridge Songs: ?rogress

Bridge Songs is a community arts experience bringing together songwriters (including the creation and performance of an original album), visual artists, filmmakers and arts workshops. This year’s event will take place June 17-19, 2011 in the Cycle Building arts space, with a companion exhibit showing in the Stollery Gallery at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts from June 17-30, 2011.

The theme of this year is ?rogress, calling us to examine the progress we make, or do not make, individually, socially and even right in our local neighborhood revitalization projects.

The event is hoping to include a lot of community art, and you are invited to submit original artworks and short films for “Bridge Songs: ?rogress”, the arts and music experience coming this June 17-19, as well as their extended exhibit running from June 17-30th.

All of the information to submit in the submission form, which you can download with the link below. You can also get more information on their event website at www.bridgesongs.ca. If you do have any questions regarding submissions, simply email art@bridgesongs.ca.

The Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts

Each year the Mayor’s Office, along with the Professional Arts Coalition of Edmonton (PACE) the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts, a celebration of the arts and a formal recognition of accomplishments made by the artists who have chosen to live and work in our city. It is a fun and entertaining evening featuring live entertainment and visual art displays, and throughout the evening awards are given to artists and those who support the arts in Edmonton. This year’s Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts is on Monday, April 7th at 7:00 pm at the Winspear Centre.

This is a special year for Arts on the Ave for two reasons:

One is that we’ve been nominated for the John Poole award for Promotion of the Arts. Secondly, every year the Mayor chooses a recipient organization to receive half of the proceeds from ticket sales. This year, Arts on the Ave is honoured to be the recipient of this generous donation.

By purchasing a ticket to the event you are supporting the artists who live and work in Edmonton, while supporting the efforts of Arts on the Ave in our ongoing work of revitalizing the Alberta Avenue area through the arts. Please consider attending as it is a fantastic way to show your support and is also a really fun and affordable evening out. With entertainment from performers such as Le Fuzz, Brian Webb, Edmonton Opera, Teatro la Quindicina, and many more, it promises to be a very entertaining night. Plus, all ticket holders will be treated to a special “after party” sponsored by PACE.

Please visit http://www.pacedmonton.com/mayors_evening for more information and ticket prices. Tickets start as low as $25 and a ticket to the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts is a great way to say thank you to your volunteers and staff.

For questions about the evening, please contact Candace at admin@pacedmonton.com

We hope to see you there!
