Come help the arts and the neighbourhood by volunteering at one of Edmonton’s best and most eclectic festivals. The Kaleido Family Arts festival is a visual art, music, theatre and dance festival that takes place at various venues on 118 ave, from Sept. 10 to 12. We are looking for volunteers to help with the following tasks;
- Security
- Supervising the children’s carnival
- Selling raffle tickets
- Supervising the donation bin
- Setting up and tearing down
- Hosting the art gallery
- Running errands (person needs a car)
- Acting as fire marshals to supervise bonfire

Here are shift times:
Friday, Sept. 10 evening: 5 to 10 pm
Saturday, Sept 11 for duties listed above: 9 am to 1 pm, 1 to 6 pm, and 6 to 11
Sunday, Sept. 12 for duties listed above 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Sunday for tear down and clean up: 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
We could also use assistance lifting, moving items, and doing carpentry on Friday, Sept. 10, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Volunteer Orientation
There is a volunteer orientation on Monday, August 30, at the Alberta Avenue Community League at 9210 118 Avenue. It is not mandatory, but it would be helpful if you could attend.

Volunteering at The Carrot: The coffee house is completely volunteer driven so we are always looking for baristas, hosts for our open mic stage on Saturday nights, cashiers, and those interested in helping with special events. Working at The Carrot is fun…you never know who you will run into! If you are interested in getting involved please contact Darcy Morin at dmorin@nait.ca , or call The Carrot at 471-1580.
Volunteering on a Committee: The Arts on the Ave board welcomes people to participate on one of our committees. Depending on your interest and expertise, you can choose from the Theatre Committee (for performance events and activities), the Curating Committee (for visual arts events and activities), the Carrot Committee (for the coffee house) and the Festival Committee. (plans our winter and fall festivals) If you would like to volunteer in any capacity, please contact Christy Morin at christytheatre@shaw.ca or call Arts on the Ave at 471-3585.
Volunteering for Special Events
Volunteers are needed to help set up for the Ave in Bloom Garden Show which takes place on May 10th. The actual setup is on the evening of Friday, May 9th. If you are available to help out with preparing the Alberta Avenue Community Hall for the event, please contact Christy Morin at christytheatre@shaw.ca or call 471-3585.
The 3rd annual Arts Alive Festival takes place on Sept. 26th- 28th and there are plenty of volunteer opportunities available. Please contact Christy for more information.
