Art is Everywhere

"Art is everywhere" highlights how creativity and expression are deeply embedded in the fabric of cities, communities, and individuals' lives. The seven works I selected for this outdoor exhibition are a reflection of this concept, showcasing how art can emerge from and interact with everyday surroundings to inspire and connect us.
Every year, the Edmonton Oilers' exceptional passion and competitive spirit bring families together, creating cherished moments of connection through the shared excitement of the game. As the city grows and people's perspectives evolve, community life is increasingly embracing environmental sustainability and nurturing inner well-being—essential values for shaping the next generation. For individuals, living in a vibrant, progressive city inspires a balance between fulfilling personal responsibilities and pursuing dreams, ultimately strengthening the bonds within the city and its communities.
I hope this final piece evokes a joyful, festive atmosphere for the audience, capturing the spirit of celebration. My wish is that the coming year will be filled with positivity, inspiration, and uplifting energy for everyone.

About Jan
Jan was born and raised in Shanghai, China. After completing 4 years of stage costume and makeup design studies at Shanghai Theatre Academy, she moved to Canada in 2004 and currently lives in Edmonton. Her passion and urgency for art and creation made her decide to rebuild her skills from scratch after years away from the craft. What often inspires her creation are the surprises in life and the innocent imagination of children. Currently, her works are all hand-painted with watercolors. Since 2022, her works have been exhibited and sold in many public libraries and local art galleries, and she has also been invited to display her works at public art events. Through her works, she hopes the audiences can slow down, stay in these imaginary worlds for a second, and feel a little warmth and hope.
